Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC Leaked

callofdutyblackopsdlces Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC Leaked

The next downloadable map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops, presumably called Escalation, has just been leaked onto the web alongside its release date at the beginning of May.

Call of Duty: Black Ops, the massively popular and record breaking first-person shooter launched by Activision and Treyarch, is set to continue dominating its opposition.

We already saw the release of the First Strike DLC for the game, back in February for the Xbox 360, and during March for the PlayStation 3 and PC, so gamers are already eagerly awaiting the release of the next map pack.

According to a leak from the Australian division of retailer GAME, spotted by VG247, the new map pack will be called Escalation, and, just like the First Strike DLC, brings four new maps and a bonus level for the zombie cooperative mode.

The leaked image, which you can check out above, also has a few hints at the maps and their core elements.

The promotional photo urges Black Ops players to ?Seize the Zoo,? ?Take the Hotel,?"Secure the Convoy,? and ?Raid the Stockpile,? as well as ?Survive Call of the Dead.?

The same picture also has a release date for the DLC, which is May 3, probably only for the Xbox 360, as part of Microsoft?s ongoing partnership with Activision that allows any new Call of Duty content to be launched as a time exclusive for its platform, and then on the PC and PlayStation 3.

Neither Activision, the publisher, nor Treyarch, the developer of Black Ops, have commented on the leak, but it seems pretty official, so fans of the game should look forward to the beginning of May for some fresh multiplayer experiences.

Speaking of Black Ops, Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin commented earlier this week that the company doesn?t exclude the possibility of launching a direct sequel, Black Ops 2, in order to continue the story that proved to be a great addition to the already popular multiplayer mode of the Call of Duty title.

Epic Games: Unreal Engine DX11 Justifies Next Gen Consoles

Unreal Engine DX11 Next Gen

Epic Games unveiled their next iteration of the powerful Unreal Engine at GDC last month, and its innovation surely wowed anyone who watched it.

The Unreal Engine DX11 demo screamed ?next gen? with evolutionary detail and polish, showing evidence of what the future of gaming will hold. There is also another message within the demo, however.

Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, explained that the demo was a message to game console creators. The demo was a message that developers are fully equipped for new hardware to push the envelope and truly bring the next gen to now.

The DX11 demo itself, that?s our love letter to hardware manufacturers. We?re able to give people another road map.

Rein assures that the demo is wholly aimed at consoles, since it was running on a maxed out PC.

That demo we?ve shown is aimed at the game console makers. We?re telling them that this is the big leap that we think justifies that new piece of hardware you?re going to build, and we?re telling them that this is what we need next-gen consoles to be capable of, because we can?t build a more powerful PC than the one that?s running the DX11 demo!

Microsoft and Sony aren?t the only subject matters in this message, however, since Rein brings up Apple?s endeavor into mobile gaming. The difference is that Rein praises Apple and their progression versus challenging them to innovate since he feels they are doing just that.

If companies are building new consoles ? and, who knows, I mean Apple just released an iPad that?s nine times the power of its predecessor.

If Apple continues on this scale, they?ll have a device that can run this [Unreal Engine DX11 demo] in a couple of years.

According to Rein, Unreal Engine DX11 is absolutely ready now, they just need the next gen consoles to get here to bring a new level of gaming to the present. Since the next iteration of the engine is up and running, he urges others in the industry to give it a go and speak up about it.

For us, now when we sit down with various companies and talk about the future, the discussion is no longer theoretical. We can show them this. We can say ?here?s our demo, try it on your hardware?. And we want feedback ? let us know what we can simplify, let us know what we can improve.

It seems the ball is in the hardware creators? court before we see games taking advantage of the new technology. There are rumblings of next gen consoles on the way from job openings for the next Xbox to a somewhat confirmed new Nintendo console in development, but when we will see them is the question that remains.

One thing is for sure, Epic Games ? and other developers that license Unreal Engine DX11 ? are fully equipped and ready for it.

Red Johnson's Chronicles – first-look preview (Red Johnson's Chronicles)

Apparently there are some people who feel the need to make a peepee-wiener joke every time they hear the word Johnson, but however you feel about its somewhat unfortunate title, Red Johnson's Chronicles has us intrigued. Although it's a classic point-and-click adventure at heart, RJC mixes an ambitious array of gameplay elements into its murder investigation story.

On one hand, the overall investigation is similar to the Ace Attorney series. You play at Red Johnson, an investigator who's looking into the mysterious death of a man who was seemingly hated by almost everyone he knew. To narrow down the suspects, you travel around gathering evidence and interrogating witnesses. The dialogue system is quite active, and requires you to choose the right responses to unlock clues and avoid getting Red killed. It requires quick thinking too ? your responses are timed, and if you hesitate too long the consequences could be disastrous. Slower readers might take issue as the game gets tougher, but it seems like an interesting way to add tension to a gameplay aspect that can otherwise get tedious.

It's also full of Professor Layton-style puzzles, although we're told that greater lengths are being made in RJC to integrate each puzzle with the story and environment to feel like a cohesive part of the narrative. In one example, a sliding puzzle unlocked a window so that we could sneak into a suspect's apartment undetected. All the puzzles are unique too, so you won't see theexact type of sliding puzzle again after that. Along the same lines, it looks like great pains have been taken in RJC's presentation ? the art is gorgeously detailed, the music is all original, and all the characters have full voice-overs.

Above: A different sliding puzzle than the one we saw in the demo - how many variations on the sliding puzzle can there be?

Although Red Johnson's Chronicles only covers one case, we're told that it will offer about 8-10 hours of gameplay in total. Interestingly, you can actually beat the game without solving the mystery in its entirety. Like a real investigator, you eventually need to submit your final report to the police chief, and if he's satisfied with your findings, you win. You can submit your report whenever you want, and like the game of Clue, you need to cover such details as the murderer, the method used to kill the victim, and the motive. If you haven't gathered enough hard evidence, but you're reasonably certain of your hunch, you can fudge your report and make an educated guess.

Above: Red must even engage in combat occasionally in the form of quick time events

It's impossible to vouch for the overall quality of Red Johnson's Chronicles at this point, because it will ultimately depend on how the story develops, and also on the quality of the various types of puzzles, of which we haven't seen much. Like its other PSN title, Amy (check out our previewhere), publisher Lexis Numerique is hoping that people will be willing to take a risk on a new IP, given its low $12 price point. Look for our full review when Red Johnson's Chronicles releases on PSN in early May.

Fresh Max Payne 3 Info

aa580012f127e33a25b4382 Fresh Max Payne 3 Info

In the Max Payne 3 preview published in the April issue of Edge Magazine, Rockstar developers have revealed some new info on the long awaited game. Most importantly, Max Payne?s signature bullet time will make a comeback supported by the improved Euphoria engine for smoother character animation. The devs are aiming to make the game less linear then its predecessors while still creating a ?fully realised cinematic experience.?

?So you need a lot of custom setups, the environments need to be varied, and all of that while keeping the gameplay fun and responsive ? people have become really specific about how they want things to be controlled. It?s a lot more work,? the game?s art director Rob Nelson told Edge.

?We?ve put a lot of attention on AI reactions, making sure that the force of the bullet feels right. It adds a level of weight and realism to every character, and the beauty of it is we can vary the level of control we have over the system to suit a situation, which really helps us to make it as cinematic as we want to be.?

The biggest point of controversy about Max Payne 3 was the drastic change in the setting and the new look of the title character, as the game features a bald, older and rougher Max. According to the new info, the original voice actor, James McCafferty, will be returning to the role of Max Payne, while the story, set eight years after Max Payne 2, will show his transformation from a New York cop to a bodyguard in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The storyboard cutscenes of the first two games will be replaced by ?an animated collage of action footage.?

Although originally slated for a 2010 release, Max Payne 3 still has no definite release date. The multiplayer component has also been confirmed, and while Rockstar hasn?t given any specific info on it, it could very well be the cause of the game?s long development time.
