Foo Fighters to rock BlizzCon 2011's socks off

Rocker Dave Grohl and his musical Foo Fighters clan have been commissioned to close out BlizzCon 2011 with a concert that will, according to Blizzard's press release, ?melt faces of [the] sold out crowd? on the final day of next month's expo in Anaheim, California. The band's performance will also be streamed live for BlizzCon Virtual Ticket holders, who will be able to follow the entire conference from home at a small price, and (presumably) less risk of face-melting.

?We?re pretty sure that in the future, music historians will look back at BlizzCon 2011 as the unquestionable pinnacle of Foo Fighters? long and illustrious career,? said Grohl in today's announcement. ?We look forward to living up to that prediction by bringing the Horde and Alliance together to rock the hell out of Anaheim next month.?

The Foo Fighters will swing by Blizzard's big party as part of their international tour in promotion of their new album Wasting Light. They will be opened by Blizzard's in-house metal band

The Artist Formerly Known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain, who will play songs from the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo series of games.

Considering BlizzCon 2011 passes have all been scooped up, ticketless Foo Fighter and Blizzard fans will have to make do with a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket. It is available for $39.99 now atBlizzCon's site, and grants home viewers over 50 hours of live online coverage of the event over the internet, and on DIRECTV in the US.

BlizzCon 2011 is Blizzard's sixth fan expo. It runs October 21stto October 22ndat the Anaheim Convention Centre.
