Today in Gaming - 2/18/11: Medal of Honor 2 and Infamous 2 Hero Edition

The Euro PlayStation Blog has a really cool initiative going where gamers can submit ideas and concepts to help create a game from scratch. For every time you may have said you had an idea for a game, this is the perfect opportunity to submit it and (possibly) see it become a reality. From the sound of it, the game might only be released on the European PlayStation Store, but anyone is free to submit ideas. With only the genre set in stone, this has the potential to be a really cool project.

The highlights from today's news:

And here's what else happened today:

Infamous 2 Gets Hero Edition and Release Date

Infamous 2 has been dated: It'll be out on June 4. As rumored, there will also be a special edition known as the Hero Edition -- it's come with all of the stuff pictured above, including a DC mini-comic, a 8.5-inch statue of Cole, a sling pack, and a voucher to redeem for in-game content and a soundtrack.

Modern Warfare 3 Ghost Rumors Continue

The voice actor who played Ghost in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 claimed in 2009 that he was going to reprise the role for a new game. The UK Official PlayStation Magazine is reporting that a source has suggested "Infinity Ward's next Modern Warfare title will be a prequel, with Ghost in the lead role." Call of Duty has never been all that focused on its characters, so it sounds as if the next Modern Warfare game could be a change in pace for the series -- assuming the rumor is true, of course.

Another Job Posting for Diablo III on Consoles

We know Blizzard is looking into a possible console version of Diablo III. It's looked to hire individuals in the past specifically for a console version, although it denies that a console version is a certainty as a result of the hirings. A new job listing is seeking a senior producer for a console version of the series, so it appears that, if nothing else, Blizzard is indeed continuing to explore the possibility. Of all Blizzard's (known) projects, it definitely seems like the best fit for consoles, so there may yet be hope that non-PC gamers can get in on the Diablo series for the first time since the original was released on PlayStation One.

Google Looking to (Properly) Bring YouTube to Consoles?

In other job posting news, Google is looking to hire an engineer who would "build the next generation game-console-based TV experience with YouTube video content" and "integrate and optimize with distribution channels and devices including all major game platforms." It specifically mentions the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, the latter two of which can currently access YouTube through their internet browsers.
