Pac-Man and House Lead This Week's Nintendo Downloads

House MD Episode 2 Blue Meanie

The ten free NES games for 3DS Ambassadors were meant to be the big downloadable release today. With those becoming available yesterday, today's Nintendo Download update isn't quite as good as it otherwise would have been.

3DS gets a single new game all to itself: a port of Pac-Man for Game Boy. For $3.99, you can enjoy the old Game Boy version of Pac-Man in its monochromatic glory. It's not especially exciting with the recent Championship Edition versions making the original seem somewhat stale (particularly when it's not even in full color), but it's a classic nonetheless.

Two other new games are now available on both 3DS and DSi. Go Series Fishing Resort ($1.99/200 points) looks like a pretty simple fishing game. House M.D.: Episode 2 - Blue Meanie ($7.99/800 points) is the sequel to a not particularly good DSiWare game released earlier this year. This one has you trying to solve the "mystery of the Blue Meanie," which I suspect has nothing to do with the overweight wrestler from the '90s. But as the picture above from the trailer shows, you can "engage in Dr. House's outlandish bedside manner."

Lastly, Trenches Generals (700 points) is now available on WiiWare. It's a strategy game that has you commanding an army that fights off waves of zombies.

If you're a 3DS Ambassador and haven't already, you can download your ten free NES games now. The method for actually doing so is slightly complicated as they're not yet available on the eShop for purchase; we've got instructions on how to get them, but set aside some time if you plan on downloading them all as repeating the process ten times is rather time consuming.
