Bethesda announced today that it's moving the release date of Brink, its fascinating new sci-fi shooter, up by one week. The game will now be available on May 10 in North America, and May 13 in Europe. Games are delayed all the time, but an early release? Madness!
"Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn't see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready," said Pete Hines, Bethesda's VP of PR and marketing. "It's apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier - we're going to."

If you like shooters, but have grown apathetic toward the genre's glut of samey franchises, keep an eye on Brink. Or two eyes, even, if you have both. Based on our experiences with it, Brinkdoesn'tjustlook different,it plays unlike any other shooter, and it'll be interesting to see how players respond to its blending of multiplayer and single-player, and its fairly-unique objective system.
